Monitoring and alarm response

24/7 A1 Grade Alarm Monitoring

Next to having on-site security personnel, monitored alarm systems provide the best protection.  We don’t recommend that you rely on a neighbour or passer-by to respond to your alarm. When we install a monitored alarm system, we recommend only monitoring centres that meets the stringent security industry's A1 Grade security requirements. These monitoring centres act on system data on a 24/7 basis.

Alarm events aren’t limited to intrusion events.  They can also include: open/closing reports, panic and duress reports, smoke or medical reports, as well as critical system conditions, such as low battery.

We can setup a monitoring account with an external provider for you at a reasonable monthly rate. We don't believe in locking our customers into long-term monitoring contracts.

Communicating with Monitoring Centre - Dialler or GPRS:

We install and recommend the NBN-Ready Permaconn GPRS.

As the name suggests, Permaconn provides a nearly permanent connection to the monitoring centre. Permaconn uses both the Optus and Telstra GPRS networks to report events. Insurance companies may offer policy discounts to systems fitted with this class 4 compliant system.

Monitoring Centre Response

Based on your predetermined choices the Monitoring Centre can:

  • Call the premises to confirm the exact nature of the emergency
  • Contact those on your emergency contact list.
  • Send out a patrol guard to investigate
  • Send the Police, Fire Brigade* or Ambulance if necessary.

*Important information about monitored alarms with smoke detectors

We often include smoke detectors as additional add-ons to residential alarm systems. As security systems are not designed to be fire-safety systems there are some things you should know.

  • As a general rule, a security company should never install smoke detectors/sensors if the installation is required by legislation, as the installation by the security company may not meet the requirements of that legislation.
  • If the fire brigade is called out to a false-alarm you may be charged for that call out.
